House of Harlow

I'm not a fan of the House of Harlow clothing because the style is very "boho chic" but I do love the accessories! I own a necklace from the line and my current obsession is the House of Harlow "Chelsea" sunglasses that Nicole Richie has been spotted wearing everywhere. They also come in a nude color but I'm all about the black colored ones! Do any of you own these? I must have them!

Eye creams

I know I'm still young but just the other day i looked in the mirror and saw crease under my eye that is made obvious when I smile.--- Not like a normal crease, but more like a huge line the shoots through my under eye area. I know its genetics because my mother, aunt, grandma, etc all have delicate under eye areas that have either sagged or have several wrinkles-or both.
So I kind of had a mini meltdown and immediately started buying under eye creams. I thought I could just rely on my facial moisturizers but now I've stepped it up a notch.
I purchased the Strivectin eye cream which is supposed the reduce wrinkles, firm the skin, reduce puffiness and dark undereye circles.  In conjunction with that I have also been using L'Occitane Immortelle Eye Balm. It is supposed to have the same results as the Strivectin cream. And let me tell you-- it's working. I used Strivectin first for like 2 weeks and then I switched over to L'Occitane. I think L'Occitane worked better because it seemed to really absorb into my skin. Either way, I'm switching between the two to try to achieve optimal results. I hope it works before I panic and start getting "Housewives of Beverly Hills crazy" with botox.
Are there any creams out there that you have tried and recommend?

Keratin Blowout

So after months and months of research I finally caved and got a Keratin treatment done on my hair. I was very hesitant at first because of the stories of certain treatments containing formaldehyde.  However, my friend finally recommended a hairdresser that has had experience with this kind of thing.

I ended up getting the Global Keratin treatment.  and boyyyyyy do I recommend it! I always tell people how curly my hair is and they don't believe me because of how often I straighten it. Well- this time I have pictures to prove it. Sure, its a bit exaggerated because no one should brush out curls- it just looks like a hot mess.  But I took a before and after picture to display the results.

It's been about a week since I got it done and I'm still trying to adjust to how easy my morning routine has become! I can literally walk out of the shower without applying hair products and my hair will not make me look like a crazy woman.  I love it! Have any of you tried it??

Nike Vintage Sneakers

Last month I was on a mad hunt for the vintage Puma and Nike running shoes. Fortunately, I was able to find a black pair of Pumas that came close to what I was looking for. Then yesterday I receive the J.Crew catalog in the mail and I swear its like the shoes Gods were listening to me!
J.Crew released a vintage Nike shoe collection and the shoe I want comes in two colors and I want both!

Shellac manicure

I just got my nails Shellac'd yesterday and I kind of loooove. It's like a nail polish that lasts for two weeks. That makes me so happy because I hate having to paint my nails every 3 days. Let's hope it lasts.
Have you tried this yet?

Running Song of the Day

So I don't know about you but in order for me to be running at the gym I need to have awesome, upbeat dance music blasting in order to give me the motivation to keep going or to run fast when I am doing intervals.

As of right now I am addicted to this song. So much so that I contemplate pumping my fists in the air while running on the treadmill at the gym... but I don't. Can't look too crazy!

Unexpected beauty product

I usually look to makeup stores or hair salons to get products for my beauty regimen but as of 3 months ago I have acquired a new product that is part of my daily routine.

VITAMINS!

I know it sounds weird but I have been trying new vitamins that have biotin in them. Biotin is supposed to help hair and nail growth. The vitamins I use are from GNC.

I like them because they don't make me feel sick to my stomach when I take them and I can actually see huge differences. For starters, I dye my hair every 6 weeks but now I have to change it to 5 because the roots are so noticeable. Also, I feel like I hardly ever have to trim my toe nails and now I have to do it every week.  This is great for me because I'm trying to grow my hair out long.

Even my sister and mom have bought these because of hearing me rave.

Have you tried them?

*I was not compensated to review this product. It is my honest experience and opinion.

Coco's Birthday

Today is my non-bioligcal son's birthday! That's right! My dog, Coco, is five years old today- that's thirty-five in doggy years!

This is a more recent photo of Coco lounging on my bed as always.

This is him a couple of winters ago playing in the snow.

This is the first day I saw him and chose him to be mine. I decided on him because of all the dogs he was the only one who wagged his tail when he played with me. :)

Happy Birthday, Coco!

UPDATE!

As you may know from a couple posts back, I ordered some leather clutches from American Apparel. Well, I loved them. I got two. One in black, the other in tan. I was hoping for them to come out with bright summer colors and my prayers have been answered!!!!!! They came out in more colors than I could have ever dreamed of!

However, it seems they are not all available as of yet so you may have better luck finding them at a store right now than online. I'm sure they will stock up soon. Another bummer? The price went up by $5. Boooo. I mean, I get that its popular but let's just leave the price alone! Am I right? I hope I come across a coral one. Coral is my color this spring. :)

Sephora VIB weekend! yessss

Yes, ladies! I love this! If you are not a VIB head on over to the Sephora website and sign up- it's free! If shopping online enter "chicweek" at checkout.

 I know that I need:

*Lancome Hypnose Drama Mascara
*Angled eyeshadow brush (for gel liner)
* Gold OPI nail polish
* Urban Decay eyeshadow (undecided on color)

What will you be getting?

online drooling.

So yesterday I got my wisdom teeth taken out. The experience was not as bad as I thought it would be. I was planning on creating a will and donating my nintendo wii to charity but as it turns out- it was a 20 minute procedure that left me in minimal pain. So here I am at home with chipmunk cheeks browsing the internet for things I don't need but am finding myself purchasing. Don't you hate/ love when that happens?

Well here is my first purchase of the day:

These are a pair of Marc by Marc Jacobs sunglasses that I am in love with. I have been looking all over the place for a cool pair of sunglasses that are flat across the top.  You can purchase these at marcjacobs.com. Some pairs also come with stripes on the temples. I got mine in a solid black.

Another thing that I have been searching for is a cute pair of pumps to wear in the summertime with rolled and/or ripped jeans. Kinda like Kim K does. I went on Jessica Simpson's online store and I found the perfect pair of shoes! These babies will be mine but first I need to find them at a store. I need to try before I buy with shoes... I hate having to mail in exchanges.

How cute, right?!? They are called "Ely". I can't wait until the weather is nice/warm/rain-free over here on the east coast and I can start wearing them!

As for a more comfortable pair of shoes.. I finally gave in and decided to rock the boat shoes. I got myself a pair of Sperry Topsiders that should be arriving any day now. I need to give my feet a rest during the summer and not just wear heels. Do any of you own Sperry's? Do you love them? I hear good things!

This is the pair I ordered. They are called the "Angelfish". They come in a bunch of other colors, too.

Do you have any summer must haves?

Shatter

I have been trying to purchase the Opi nail polish in "shatter" for quite some time. Today I finally bought it along with "san-tan-tonio"

Not sure how I feel about the shattered look but the tan nail color is definitely one I will be wearing a lot!!!

MAC Viva Glam Gaga 2

I wandered into the MAC store today with the intention to take a look at the Wonder Woman collection. A lot of the things were cute. The one thing I was into purchasing was the mineralize powders they had but unfortunately they were sold out. bummer. However- I noticed that they also released the other Lady Gaga Viva Glam lipstick and lipgloss. I wasn't so into it by looking at it but then I figured I would just try it on. Well, needless to say I purchased it. It is much like my favorite lipstick of the moment: Creme D'Nude. I wear Creme D'Nude all the time and Viva Glam Gaga 2 is just as good except it has more of a brownish tone to it. It is very creamy and flattering. I think this is my new lipstick of the moment! I also purchased the lipgloss as well.

(excuse the gross lips- they are chapped!)

Best part about my purchase? Every cent from the sale goes to the MAC Aids fund. How great is that?

Do You Lilac It?

Ok, let me start off by saying that I'm not a big fan of the color purple, but I thought this color wasn't so bad so I bought it.... AND I HEART IT! It's the perfect Spring color and the formula from this OPI color is perfect! I have worn this nail polish for about a week and the color has held better than most OPI colors. This is definitely my current favorite and I will continue to wear this until I think it's time for a change. Do you lilac it?

Cover FX Cream Foundation Review

I was looking to purchase a foundation that had full coverage so I ordered this foundation based on the reviews of how great it is for concealing skin imperfection (acne scars, rosacea, etc). When I went to use it I found it difficult to apply. The cream is very thick and hard to smudge. I applied it with the sponge that it came with and I felt like I really had to press hard into the cream and also really work at transferring it from the sponge to my face. I ended up returning it for this reason BUT- the upside of this product may appeal to certain users. The foundation truly does have full coverage.  You could use this as a concealer instead of a foundation. It really eliminated any redness that I had on my face.
This product is really great for coverage but it just wasn't for me. I would have purchased this as a concealer if they had mini versions of it. When I rush in the mornings to put on my makeup to get to work on time, I don't want to have any difficulties with makeup application. Perhaps others have had better luck or better application techniques?

Two Tone Nails

I painted my nails last night this beautiful color from MAC called "Earthly Harmony". It's like a brownish grey color and I love it! The only downside to it is that it doesn't seem to last long. Usually the color starts to come off at the end of my nails.

So then today on my lunch break I headed over to Ulta and bought some more colors. I bought this great blue color from OPI called "Dating a Royal" and an awesome lilac color as well called "Do you lilac it?".

Torn between wearing my MAC shade and wanting to try the new colors I purchased- I decided to use both.

This is what I did...

(no flash)

(flash)

I kept "Earthly Harmony" on and also used "Dating a Royal". I think this is fun and different. Not an everyday look but It should last me at least a day or two! I'll upload pics of the lilac color too as soon as I wear it.

Fake Bake

During the winter months my skin gets so white that its gross and you can see my veins. I become a translucent-skinned human. My problem is that I refuse to lay in a tanning booth because I don't want skin cancer/ wrinkles/ gross skin when I'm older. So I decided to share with you what I have been using that makes me have a healthy sun-kissed glow and does not make me look like Snookie.

This St Tropez tanning mousse is good for use all over the body. I primarily just use it on my face (no breakouts!) and will use it every now and then on my arms or legs for special events. The trick to this is to apply it at night and wait until the morning to shower off the excess tan. Ends up looking very natural (after the shower!)
In conjunction with the tanning mousse, I use the MAC mineralize skinfinish in medium dark (The great part about this is that there is no shimmer, so it looks natural). I dust it over my foundation and VOILA! nice looking tan skin.

So here are my steps in getting a tan face:

1. Moisturize, apply mousse. Let it set overnight.
2. Shower. Moisturize
3. Once the moisturizer has been absorbed, apply your regular foundation.
4. Apply MAC skinifinish as you would a bronzer.
5. DONE! Enjoy your tan self!

*The St Tropez I bought through Sephora.com and the skinfinish is sold at MAC stores or at maccosmetics.com
